What do I do as an On-Call Firefighter?

As an On-Call Firefighter, you will be required to attend a range of operational incidents. Our Firefighters deliver a range of Community Safety initiatives to reduce the number of fires, accidents and all associated injuries, often in partnership with other groups. This is a varied and exciting role for anyone, regardless of background, who wish to push themselves and help protect their community.

Watch our video below for a taster of what you could be doing as an On-Call Firefighter.

What availability is required?

On-Call Firefighters are required to respond to their community fire station when an incident occurs. The availability of potential firefighters is considered at the early stages through a discussion to ensure that it complements the requirements within the team. We are interested to talk with anyone that believes that they have what it takes to be part of #TeamBedsFire.

A retaining fee is paid for your availability along with additional payments for incidents, community activities and training attended. The high levels of professional training and development we offer will be attractive to individuals, team and businesses alike; such as diversity and inclusion, health and safety, driver training, medical skills and leadership development.

What are the entry requirements?
