At 10.03am on Monday (23), crews from Bedford, Kempston, and Sandy were called to a road traffic collision on the A1 northbound, between Sandy Roundabout and Black Cat Roundabout.

At 10.03am on Monday (23), crews from Bedford, Kempston, and Sandy were called to a road traffic collision on the A1 northbound, between Sandy Roundabout and Black Cat Roundabout.
The incident involved a single SUV that had come to rest on its side in a ditch, surrounded by heavy undergrowth and trees. One person was extricated from the vehicle and left in the care of the ambulance service.
Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment, a ladder platform, and the SRU crane. A full road closure was implemented by fire service personnel, police, and highways officers.
