Kitchen fire – Bedford
At 4:15am on Wednesday (9), crews from Bedford, Harrold, Kempston, Sandy and Shefford were called to a fire at a residential building on Palgrave Road, Bedford.
At 4:15am on Wednesday (9), crews from Bedford, Harrold, Kempston, Sandy and Shefford were called to a fire at a residential building on Palgrave Road, Bedford.
On arrival, firefighters found a fire in the kitchen area of a first-floor flat in a building consisting of seven floors plus a basement. The fire had been extinguished by the occupant prior to the arrival of crews.
Fire damage was limited to the cooker, blinds and kitchen counter. Approximately 50 per cent smoke damage was sustained to the flat.
Crews used positive pressure ventilation, a thermal imaging camera and small tools to make the scene safe.
The cause of the fire was accidental.
