Fire in the open - Flitwick

At 11.53am on Wednesday (6) a crew from Ampthill and a crew from Kempston were called to a woodland fire in Church Road, Flitwick. The fire was approximately 20m x 20m and consisted of trees, logs, undergrowth and deepseated peat.

Firefighters used a hose reel and stack drags to extinguish the fire. Thermal imaging cameras were used to check for hot spots. Crews were assisted by Woodland Trust to dismantle trees and logs using chainsaws.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
