Vehicle fire – A421

At 12.49am on Saturday (9), crews from Bedford and Kempston were called to a vehicle fire on the A421 eastbound between Cardington and Renhold.

The fire involved a gas-powered articulated LGV. The tractor unit was 100% destroyed by fire and the trailer unit sustained 20% fire damage.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used four hose reels and thermal imaging cameras to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
