Fire in the open - Luton

At 2.32pm on Thursday (14) a crew from Shefford and a crew from Stopsley were called to a large agricultural fire in Butterfield Green, Luton. The fire consisted of approximately 50 sqm of stubble and also 5 large straw bales.

Firefighters split the bales to allow burn out. They used stack drags, hose reel jets, a high pressure lance and a backpack blower to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire was deliberate.
