Details of incidents attended by Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service
At 6.04am on Thursday (21) a crew from Kempston was called to a commercial van involved in a fire in Green End, Maulden. Three LPG cylinders not involved in the fire were removed to a place of safety.
Firefighters used small tools, a hose reel to extinguish the fire and a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots.
The cause of the fire was accidental.
At 1.48pm a crew from Leighton Buzzard was called to a railway embankment fire involving trackside vegetation and fencing at the narrow gauge railway in Centauri Close, Leighton Buzzard. The fire measured approximately 20m x 1.5m.
Firefighters used beaters and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire was accidental.
At 2.49pm on Thursday (21) three crews from Kempston were called to rescue a woman and her dog from marsh land.
Firefighters in full water rescue PPE evacuated the woman and her dog and no injuries were sustained. A hose reel jet was used.
At 4.03pm on Thursday (21) a crew from Bedford was called to a fire in hedgerow in Roxton Road, Great Barford, Bedford. The fire measured approximately 7m x 3m.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet and a garden hose to extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire was accidental.
At 4.45pm on Thursday (21) a crew from Shefford was called to a 77yr old woman with two rings stuck on her finger in Ivel Road, Shefford.
Firefighters used a ring cutter to remove the rings.
At 7.15pm on Thursday (21) a crew from Dunstable and a crew from Toddington were called to a road traffic collision involving a car and a parked car resulting in one car being on its side in Dunstable Road, Toddington. One man was assisted from the vehicle by firefighters and is in the care of medical professionals.
Firefighters used a triple extension ladder, small tools and a paratech stabilisation strut to resuce the trapped man.
At 7,29pm on Thursday (21) a crew from Bedford was called to a small campfire consisting of a small amount of wood in Wilden.
Firefighters used buckets of water to extinguish the fire and advice was given to locals.
The cause of the fire was deliberate.
At 7.56pm on Thursday (21) a crew from Biggleswade was called to a fire in cut grass measuring approximately 10m x 10m in Biggleswade.
Firefighters used a back pack sprayer to extinguish the fire.
