Details of incidents attended by Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
At 00.43am on Wednesday (27) crews from Dunstable were called to a fire in a first floor bedroom of a 2 story house in Elm Park Close, Houghton Regis.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel and a safety jet to extinguish the fire. They also used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.
The cause of the fire was accidental.
At 10am on Wednesday (27) a crew from Luton was called to a fire in a farmers field in Chaul End Road, Caddington. The fire measured approximately 8m x 8m and had spread to hedges and trees.
Firefighters used small tools and a hose reel to extinguish the fire, and a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots.
The cause of the fire was accidental.
At 10:34am two crews from Dunstable and a crew from Toddington were called to a large fire at a farm in Sallowsprings. Whipsnade. The fire consisted of 10 tonnes of straw and 50msq of grassland.
Firefighters used stack drags, water jets, two hose reels, water carrier and farm machinery to extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire was accidental.
At 4:13pm on Wednesday (27) a crew from Luton was called to a vehicle fire in Harpenden. The fire was confined to the engine bay and damaged 20% of the car.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots. The car was removed from the highway onto the footpath by the fire service.
The cause of the fire was accidental.
At 4.19pm on Wednesday (27) a crew from Shefford was called to a fire in the open on Stotfold Road, Arlesey. The fire was approximately 2m x 2m of wooden logs.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire was deliberate.
At 6.05pm on Wednesday (27) a crew from Luton and a crew from Shefford was called to a gas leak in a ground floor kitchen in Warren Lane, Clophill.
Firefighters isolated the gas leak and checked neighbouring properties who all showed normal readings on the gas monitor. All properties were ventilated using natural ventilation.
The incident was reported and left with the gas supplier.
At 6.05pm on Wednesday (27) a crew from Kempston was called to a fire in the open near Kempston Riverside Path, Kempston. The fire measured approximately 3m x 3m and involved tree stumps and branches.
Firefighters used a hose reel and backpack sprayers to extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire was deliberate.
