Fire crews have continued to work at Elstow Waste Transfer Station and we can now confirm the fire has been extinguished.
Residents are no longer advised to close windows and doors as a result.
A number of contractors will remain onsite as the deconstruction of the building continues.
We would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding.
At 7.31pm on Friday (4), a crew from Kempston was called to a derelict building fire on Rectory Lane, Houghton Conquest.
At 7.11pm on Friday (4), crews from Luton and Stopsley were called to a kitchen fire on Birchen Grove, Luton.
At 6.45pm on Friday (4), a crew from Harrold was called to a deep-seated fire in grassland on Ravensden Road, Renhold.
At 5.41pm on Friday (4) crews from Sandy and Kempston were called to a shed fire that had spread to nearby fencing, a single storey commercial storage building and a single storey domestic store in Nightingale Road, Great Barford.
At 5.41pm on Friday (4), crews from Kempston, Sandy, Gamlingay, and Huntingdon were called to a large fire on Nightingale Road, Great Barford.
At 5.41pm on Friday (4), crews from Dunstable, Kempston and Leighton Buzzard were called to a fire at a farm on Harling Road, Eaton Bray.
At 5.19pm on Friday (4), a crew from Luton was called to a fire on Popes Meadow, Old Bedford Road, Luton.
At 4.01pm on Friday (4), a crew from Dunstable was called to a fire on Havelock Road, Luton.
At 3.40pm on Friday (4), crews from Luton were called to a domestic building fire on Kenilworth Road, Luton.
At 3.30pm on Friday (4), a crew from Bedford was called to a fire in a rear alleyway on Saint Leonards Court, Ampthill Road, Bedford.
At 12.36pm on Friday (4), a crew from Leighton Buzzard was called to a fire involving a pile of logs measuring approximately 3m x 3m in a woodland area on Middleton Way, Leighton Buzzard.
